A selection of residential gardens designed with care, craft, and a deep respect for the landscape
Romany Lambert adopts a genuinely collaborative approach to garden design, working closely with clients to create truly customised gardens that are shaped by personal style, lifestyle requirements, the architecture of the home, the site and its surrounds.
By carefully teasing out your personal aesthetics and objectives – be they inspired by cultural connection, special memories, a colour palette or specific site challenges, every garden is designed to capture the spirit, story and individuality of the people and the place they call home.
No matter if you’re drawn to classic European styling, cottage garden exuberance, contemporary Australian or Japanese restraint, we work to create a space that just ‘feels’ right, is manageable, grows successfully and as a result, is a garden you absolutely love to bits!
Before

Smeaton – Homestead
Previously known by locals as ‘the spooky house in a paddock’, this garden was carefully designed to provide views of beautiful, soft, perennial colours and flowers to pick through every window, whilst being frost and drought tolerant, fire-resistant and having low maintenance requirements.
Before

Ballarat – Town Garden Sanctuary
Previously very utilitarian, with an old Hills Hoist in the centre of the lawn, this garden was reimagined as a relaxing, private space with colour, texture and space to entertain in.
Before

Central Ballarat – Accessible Flower-filled Garden
Previously a non-functional, unattractive yard, this area was thoughtfully designed to be a wheelchair-friendly, hardworking space for two keen gardeners to enjoy spending time in, bursting with their favourite fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers.
Before

Guildford – Country Retreat
A weekender initially surrounded by dusty thin clay soil and weeds, this garden was terraced and carefully layered to support drought and frost-resilient plantings which provide a magnificent display with minimal upkeep.
Before

Talbot – Historic Country House
A much-loved family country home posed challenges, which included an unstable Chinese well near the rear entry, and uneven, awkward levels. It was reimagined to provide an attractive entrance and entertaining space, surrounded by low maintenance plantings that survive inhospitable growing conditions, providing low maintenance fragrance, colour and cooling greenery in the heat of summer, as well as year round structure and texture.
